Louisa Shipnuck, Managing Principal, Media and Entertainment Industry, Verizon Busines s: In this role, she is responsible for defining and launching managed services and consulting efforts for studios, broadcasters, advertising agencies, publishers and others. The media-centric services will position Verizon Business as a one-stop-shop for digital media strategies, content management, media security and multi-platform distribution in support of diverse entertainment business models. Prior to Verizon Business, Louisa served as the Global Business Development Executive for IBMs Media and Entertainment industry. In this role, Louisa sized new digital media opportunities for IBM, focused on emerging content and advertising services and solutions, including multiplatform advertising business intelligence, digital media managed services, and digital workflow. Elsewhere in IBM, Louisa formerly served as the Institute for Business Values Global Media and Entertainment Industry Leader, overseeing business research efforts and thought leadership. She has recently co-authored thought pieces, including "The end of advertising as we know it," "Navigating the media divide: Innovating and enabling new business models, The end of television as we know it," and "Beyond access: Raising the value of information in a cluttered marketplace," all of which focus on competitive positioning in a tumultuous Media marketplace. Louisa has served as a senior strategy consultant with PricewaterhouseCoopers and IBM Global Business Services, leading and contributing to numerous business and operational strategy engagements in technology, media and entertainment. In her prior business manifestation, Louisa worked as a political media consultant in Washington, DC. She holds an M.B.A. from Columbia Business School and a B.A. from the University of California, Los Angeles.
Bryan Perez, SVP/GM, NBA Digital: is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the NBA Digital portfolio, which includes NBA TV the leagues 24-hour digital television network NBA.com, WNBA.com, NBADLeague.com, NBA League Pass, as well as the leagues broadband and wireless businesses. Perez oversees all aspects of these programs, including programming, operations, editorial, e-commerce and marketing. Earlier in 2008, Turner Broadcasting System, Inc. and the NBA announced a ground-breaking expansion of their long-running partnership, through which the companies will jointly manage a portfolio of the NBAs digital businesses that Turner Sports will operate out of its Atlanta production facility. Perez reports to David Levy, President of Turner Sports, and Adam Silver, Deputy Commissioner and COO of the NBA. Perezs extensive and diverse professional background includes, most recently, serving as CEO of Live Nations Global Digital division. In this position, Perez established and built the new division and was responsible for the companys worldwide Internet, wireless, ticketing, and IT strategy and operations. While at Live Nation for three years, Perez also served as President of the Global Digital division for one year, and as President of the Digital Distribution division. From 2004 to 2005 Perez worked as Executive Vice President of Strategy and Business Development for Clear Channel Entertainment, the predecessor to Live Nation, where he led preparation of divisional strategic plans and annual strategic acquisition and development plans, and identified and evaluated new lines of business, business extensions, acquisition targets and joint venture partners.Before joining Clear Channel, Perez was Executive Vice President of Marketing and Communications for the National Hockey Leagues Dallas Stars from 2002 to 2004, where he oversaw all ticket sales, new media, marketing and broadcasting efforts for the team. During his tenure, Perez negotiated a long-term radio broadcast agreement, designed and executed marketing and promotional campaigns, negotiated title sponsorship of ticket products, and revamped the franchises research efforts to support a newly implemented customer service department. Preceding that position, Perez worked at Hicks Sports Group from 1998 to 2002, where he served as Executive Vice President of Business Development for two years, with a focus on broadcasting and new media. Perez previously also served as Vice President of Business Development from 1998 to 2000. Prior to joining the Hicks Sports Group, he was the Director of Business Development for Madison Square Garden from 1996 to 1998. Perez earned his juris doctorate degree and M.B.A. from Stanford University and his bachelor of business administration from the University of Texas at Austin.
Scott Drake, Vice President, CNBC Digital: He is responsible for setting the strategy and developing the multi-platform products the enable CNBC to provide real-time financial market news and information on-air, online and on mobile. Drake oversaw the launch of the successful CNBC Mobile Web site in June 2007, which has posted consecutive year-over-year growth since inception. This past June, the site closed its best quarter ever, increasing page views by 37% compared to the same time last year. (Source: Omniture) In the fall of 2009, Drake and his team launched CNBCs Real-Time iPhone App. Recently ranked fourth on PC Magazines The Top 40 Free iPhone Apps 2010 list and named by Apple as one of the best APPs of 2009, the CNBC iPhone App has been downloaded close to 800,000 times since launch. Drake has over 20 years of technology & software development expertise and has been with the network for more than 10 years. Prior to his current role, he served as CNBCs Vice President and CIO of Information Technology, responsible for all real-time on-air applications and analytics. Previously, Scott was the Chief Technology Officer for CNBC.com, responsible for building the technology organization and infrastructure for the site. Before joining CNBC, Drake worked as the General Manager at Bloomberg.com and was responsible for that companys web development. He was also in charge of equity derivative software development for Bloombergs professional services. Drake started his career as an equity quantitative analyst at Salomon Brothers Inc. Drake holds a BS in Civil Engineering from Rutgers College.
Rhodes Mason, VP of Business Development, Internet Video Archive: the entertainment industrys leading distributor of online previews for movies, TV, games, and music videos. Mason oversees all of IVAs new client acquisition as well as supervising all client retention programs. He has been with IVA for over three years, initially as a sales representative, and most recently as Director of Business Development. His background is in sales and marketing with previous stints at major ad agencies. He also has experience in the music industry, having booked clubs before going on to work at several record labels. He was the founder and President of Nuclear Blast Records. Mason is a Philadelphia native, with a BA in Communications from Temple University.
Victor Perton, Commissioner to the Americas, State Government, Victoria, Australia: Vi ctor Perton was appointed to this role in February 2009. He is responsible for the Victorian Governments operations in North and South America, including bi-lateral trade, investment attraction and government relations. Before his appointment, Mr Perton was an independent company director & advisor, barrister and a regulatory affairs advocate in Melbourne, Australia. His diverse portfolio included building development, argument and business case mapping, insurance, road safety and information technology & telecommunications. Until accepting this role in 2009 he was a member of the Board of the Transport Accident Commission (TAC) of Victoria. From 1998-2006 Mr Perton was a member of the Parliament of Victoria for the seat of Doncaster. He served as Shadow Minister for Technology & Innovation and, in the early days of the internet, was the first Australian Member of Parliament with a website. He also served in the education and environment portfolios. He chaired the Victorian Government Multimedia Committee, Data Protection Advisory Council, Electronic Commerce Framework Group, the Law Reform Committee and the Scrutiny of Acts and Regulations Committee. Born in Melbourne, Mr Perton holds a Bachelor of Economics/Law (Monash University, Melbourne), a Diploma of Chinese Law (Peking University) and a Masters of Law (University of Melbourne). Mr Perton qualified as a Barrister and Solicitor in the High Court of Australia in 1983. He is an accredited arbitrator and mediator. Mr Perton has two children. His interests include human rights and democracy, politics, impact of new technologies on society, future studies, post-soviet societies, walking and travel.
