Benjamin Chen, Chairman and CEO, Mochila: Benjamin Chen is a 20-year veteran of hig h tech startups. Prior to Mochila, Mr. Chen was a founder of AppGenesys, a leading managed services web hosting provider for Fortune 500 clients, partnered with Intel, Softbank, JP Morgan, where he was Chairman, CEO and CTO. Previously, Mr. Chen was the CIO and CTO at iXL, a strategic e-business consulting firm. At iXL, he helped grow the company from 100 to 3,000 employees worldwide and from $2M to $120M revenue per quarter. During Mr. Chen's tenure, iXL was known for delivering innovative technology solutions to the F500, included a $50M contract with Delta Airlines and $100M contract with General Electric. Other key customers included AT&T, CheapTickets.com, FEDEX, Sony (AiBO Launch), Tickets.com, and WebMD. Mr. Chen was part of the executive management team that helped take iXL public in 1999. Prior to iXL, Mr. Chen worked at CBS Studio Center, as a technologist working on some of the first convergence of prime time television content and the internet. Mr. Chen also produced the 1996 Emmy Awards Cybercast, demonstrating the worlds largest number of internet video streams that year. Mr. Chen has also served on the advisory/boards of Teralytics and Exodus/Digital Island, a Cable and Wireless Company. He received a B.S. in international finance from the University of Southern California and is an avid martial artist with a Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do.
Stephen Yap, Head of Platform Sales, Google: As Head of Platform Sales, Stephen Yap oversees the East Coast team responsible for managing relationships with clients of Googles industry-leading agency ad server, DoubleClick for Advertisers. In addition he leads our platform sales teams for Latin America and directs sales and account management for Google Analytics globally. As a DoubleClick and Google veteran, Yap has in-depth expertise on third-party ad serving, advertising performance analytics, and the management of digital media across search, video, rich media and standard display. Yap has spent over a decade in the marketing and advertising industry. This includes 3 years with Google and 5 years with DoubleClick. Yap's analytics expertise is an outgrowth of his time at Omniture. Plus, he brings an understanding of online publishing and e-commerce from his time at Send.com. Yap holds a BA in Psychology from Boston College. He's a member of the Boston College Alumni Group, the IAB, and the Boston Interactive Marketing Association.
Michael Bologna, Director, Emerging Communications, GroupM: Fresh out of college, Mike began his career at Mediaedge:cia in 1998 as an Assistant Media Planner working on the US Army account. After 11 months he was promoted to Media Planner in 1999. For the next year, Mike worked on the AT&T account in the Strategic Planning department before joining the company's new online offering, MEC Interaction, in 2000. Mike spent the next two years with MEC Interaction as a Digital Strategist and was responsible for managing the online investments of some of the agency's largest clients including Xerox and Campbells Soup Company. By early 2002, MEC saw a need to integrate the multiple areas of emerging communications platforms with the convergence of online and traditional media offerings. Mike's passion for emerging technologies led to his being appointed MEC's first Emerging Communications Manager, a role he carried in addition to his MEC Interaction duties. In this capacity, Mike created the industry's first "living room of the future", the EC Studio, which gives clients a hands-on look at the progress and development of a full range of advanced media applications. In 2003, Mike was appointed Director of Emerging Media Communications, enabling him to devote his energies to helping client navigate these new technologies. Currently, Mike develops marketing and advertising applications for MEC clients on advanced digital platforms, including interactive television, video on-demand, DVR, and wireless. As more and more clients choose to explore these new platforms, Mike helps them identify suitable partners and manages their initiatives to maximize learning, ROI and client satisfaction.
Mike Seiman, CEO, CPX Interactive: Mike Seiman began what can be traced back as the earliest incarnation of CPX Interactive while still a freshman at Hofstra University. It was then that he began creating content-based websites and generating revenue by selling advertising and optimizing campaigns on those sites. By the time he graduated with a B.S. in Computer Science in 2001, he had already leveraged his keen understanding of online advertising and his network of publishing relationships to create BUDS Inc., CPX's parent company. Mike Seiman's unique vision for the future of online advertising continues to drive the day-to-day business of CPX Interactive..
Lewis Rothkopf, Vice President of Network Development, BrightRoll: Lewis is cha rged with broadening BrightRolls audience reach and enhancing client value by building strategic partnerships with the webs top branded publishers. Prior to joining BrightRoll, Lewis was Head of Distribution for the National Broadband Company (NBBC), NBC Universals digital video syndication business, where he was responsible for connecting premium digital video owners with the webs premier publishers. Active in the digital media community for a decade, Lewis spent five years at DoubleClick Inc.s TechSolutions for Publishers business, most recently as sales and account management leader. He was at LightningCast Inc., one of the first video advertising companies, as director of sales for the video ad insertion technology business, where he helped ready the company for acquisition by AOL LLC. In those capacities, he spearheaded technology and media solutions for numerous industry leaders, including AOL, Washington Post.Newsweek Interactive, Disney/ABC, Scripps Networks, MTV Networks, CBS Inc., Knight Ridder Digital, United Online, among many others. Lewis holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communication from Boston University and lives in Manhattan with his wife Nichole.
Paul Barrett, Senior Industry Consultant, Teradata, a division of NCR: with over 22 years of experience, most of them in the Communications, Media and Entertainment industry. Pauls has worked with Teradata clients to grow their Enterprise Data Warehouse and developed strategies for leveraging the EDW to improve their customers experiences in various communications channels. Prior to joining Teradata, Paul founded and managed Creative Convergence, a boutique consulting group that built thought-leadership in marketing, customer experience management, CRM and information technology. He worked with clients to conceptualize, develop, and orchestrate internal and external marketing technology initiatives. His client roster included AOL, Microsoft, Covad, Embratel, Network Solutions, and other category leaders. He has led many technology projects such as data warehousing, CRM, OSS, call center infrastructure, e-commerce, e-CRM and customer segmentation. In addition to consulting, he also served on the board of two technology start-ups and was interim Vice-President of Marketing for a cable company and a telecom supply chain management BPO company. Before forming Creative Convergence, Paul held various director-level positions at MCI Communications. In 1994, as Director of Database Marketing, his team delivered one of the first commercial marketing applications on an MPP platform. Much of the work on this system was patented by MCI and the system is still in use 12 years later. Also, while at MCI, Paul led launch organizations in the CLEC, Wireless and Internet markets. Paul earned an MBA in Marketing at George Washington University and an undergraduate Bachelor of Science in Management from the University of Scranton..
Shaukat Shamim, CEO & Co-Founder, Buysight: Shaukat is CEO and Co-Founder of Buysight, Inc. Prior to Buysight, Shaukat founded Rhythm NewMedia, an industry leading startup that pioneered mobile video advertising where he was a member of the Board of Directors and played the role of CTO and Senior Vice President of Business Development. Prior to Rhythm, Shaukat was a Venture Partner and CTO of NeoCarta Ventures, a $300m early stage venture firm focused on technology investments in internet, media, and wireless. Before NeoCarta, Shaukat joined Yahoo! as an early employee, where he pioneered the development of the instant messaging platform - Yahoo Messenger - which ultimately boasted one of the worlds largest online communities. Shaukat was responsible for the architecture, product vision and long-term product roadmap for Yahoo Messenger and played key roles in the industry-wide coordination over IM standards.
Chris Hollenbeck, Managing Director of Granite Ventures: Chris Hollenbeck is a founding member of the Granite Ventures team. He joined Granite after serving as Vice President of Hambrecht & Quist's Venture Capital department, and focuses his investments in software. In addition to software applications, Chris is also interested in companies that capitalize on the current digital content explosion from voice and video to consumer entertainment and next-generation software infrastructure technologies. Chris currently sits on the Boards of Auditude, Bunchball, Convio, DecisionView, HireVue, Oversight Systems, SonicMule, Telltale and YottaMark. He sponsored Granite's investments in Digimarc (NASDAQ: DMRC) and Vignette (NASDAQ: VIGN), and was a member of the Boards of AvantGo prior to its acquisition by Sybase (NYSE: SY), Episodic prior to its acquisition by Google (NASDAQ:GOOG), and of Liquent prior to its acquisition by Information Holdings (NYSE: IHI). Earlier in his career, Chris held several positions within Hambrecht & Quist's Mergers and Acquisitions and Corporate Finance departments. Chris holds a B.A. in American Studies from Stanford University.
